The Phillies Have Overcome Historic Odds All Year
[ad_1]

Before the start of the 2022 MLB season, very few people actually thought the Philadelphia Phillies were capable of reaching the World Series.
When discussing the elite teams in the National League, analysts mentioned the Los Angeles Dodgers, the New York Mets, the Atlanta Braves, and even the San Diego Padres before they even thought about the Phillies.
Even the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers had a better chance of making it to the Fall Classic.
But some things are very hard to predict, and one of them is postseason baseball.
The Phillies barely made the playoffs with 87 wins, yet here they are, having beaten the Cardinals, the Braves, and the Padres in consecutive series to reach the World Series.
The Phillies Have Aced Postseason Baseball
Playoff baseball is different: sample size noise is magnified, bullpens become much more important, and mistakes are paid dearly.
The Phillies bullpen has responded, the offense looks explosive, and the vibes are special.
Just like the 2018 Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL, the Phillies have been underdogs all year.
“How stunning is the #Phillies World Series run, per @betonline_ag? They were 28/1 underdogs to win the World Series on opening day. They were 35/1 underdogs on July 1. They were 45/1 underdogs on Aug. 1. They were 28/1 underdogs on Sept. 1. They are now 6/1 underdogs to win the WS,” MLB insider Bob Nightengale tweeted.

They were 22-29 at one point and had to change managers to get on the right track: Rob Thomson took over in early June, and Philadelphia started to thrive.
They were 45/1 underdogs at one point in the summer, yet here they are, at 6/1 odds to win it all.
Baseball is full of surprises, chapter one million.
