Fans of the Boston Celtics got one heck of a Christmas gift on Sunday as their team, the best in the league, took down the second-best Milwaukee Bucks.

Jayson Tatum and his squad went face-to-face with Giannis Antetokounmpo and his crew and, in the end, the Celtics secured a huge 139-118 victory at home.

This was a big win for a number of reasons: beating any team at home on national television is a wonderful thing but overtaking the second-best team in the NBA is even better.

It also secured the best record in the league for the Celtics and that suggests that great things could be coming for the team.

With a 24-10 record, the Celtics have the strongest record of any team in the association.

As ESPN points out, 4 of the last 6 NBA champions held the best record in the league on Christmas Day.

Therefore, it stands to reason that the Celtics have the greatest chance of winning the Finals, even though they are months away from now.

But Boston fans shouldn’t count their chickens before they hatch.

Merry Celtics

Few people would say that the Celtics are not the best team in the NBA right now.

Even if they didn’t win on Christmas Day, everyone would agree that they are in a terrific position to take home the biggest trophy of the year.

But no one should count out other teams: the Bucks have a stellar 22-11 record, which is right behind the Celtics.

Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have drummed up 21-11 in the West, which is a terrific record as well.

Yes, the Celtics have history on their side but a whole lot can happen and change between now and the postseason.
