As great as LeBron James is, Anthony Davis is the most important player for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers won the NBA championship when Davis was healthy in the bubble, and they’ve been a borderline playoff team when he’s been out.

He was supposed to carry LeBron’s torch and become the franchise’s go-to guy once he left the team, but that’s been far from the case thus far.

Davis has been an MVP candidate when healthy.

However, he’s rarely been healthy throughout his career, and he’s set to miss at least one month with another injury.

That’s why former NBA player-turned-analyst Kendrick Perkins believes we just have to accept the fact that Davis is never going to be healthy.

“When you look at AD — let me get this out of the way. I think we all have to start preparing ourselves for the rest of Anthony Davis’ career to expect that every season that he comes in, he’s going to be injured,” Perkins said. “I mean, he just has that type of body frame, and it is what it is at this point. And [this] is not me going at him; I just think we need to accept the fact that we need to expect that.”

There’s no denying Davis’ talents or impact.

He might as well be the best two-way player in the league when he’s at full strength.

But he’s been in the NBA for 11 years now, and he’s never played a full season. So yeah, it is what it is at this point.
