Luis Arraez Had A Breakout Season For The Ages

 

While the season ended in disappointing fashion for the Minnesota Twins after having led the American League Central division for several months, there was one bright spot.

Luis Arraez had a season to remember in all facets of the game.

Arraez won his first ever Silver Slugger Award, taking home the award for American League utility players.

Arraez was also the American League Batting Champion, leading the league with an average of .316.

He even earned his first All-Star nod and was a finalist for a Gold Glove Award along with his teammate Carlos Correa.

Arraez’s Accomplishments

So, while the Twins fell short, Arraez’s season was certainly something to behold.

The 25-year-old also hit eight home runs and drove in 49 runs during the regular season and racked up 31 doubles.

He ranked seventh in the American League with 173 hits on the season.

Arraez joins an elite group of Silver Sluggers in the American League that consists of Alejandro Kirk, Nathaniel Lowe, Jose Altuve, Xander Bogaerts, Jose Ramirez, Aaron Judge, Mike Trout, Yordan Alvarez and Julio Rodriguez.

The 2022 season was full of many firsts for Arraez.

2022 was also only Arraez’s fourth season in the big leagues, yet he still managed to accomplish a lot over 162 games.

Arraez spent most of his time at first base during the season, but also slotted in at second base and third base at various points and even made 38 appearances as the Twins’ designated hitter and 13 as a pinch-hitter.

Arraez had a season for the ages and was one of the key bright spots for the Twins in 2022.
