Kendrick Lamar went on to receive eight nominations during the 65th Annual Grammy Awards, and ended up winning Best Rap Album for Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, while “The Heart Part 5” won Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance.

K. Dot continued: “you know as artists, we all entertainers, stupid. And we say things to provoke thoughts and feelings and emotions. So making this record was one of my toughest records to make; and it allowed me to do that and it allowed me to share other people’s experiences.”
“So going back and thinking back where I started with rap and how far it’s came, I would like to thank the culture for allowing me to evolve in order to make a song like ‘Mother I Sober.’ That’s special to me.”
Kendrick Reveals Impact Fatherhood Has Had On His Professional And Private Life
In October, Kendrick told W Magazine about the impact his children have had on him and removing his ego.
“My children allowed me, in their development as human beings beginning to walk and talk, to remove my ego, to know that my children, too, will have their own independence,” he said.
He added that his children have taught him “to understand unconditional love.”
“That allows me to understand the unconditional love on my end — will I allow them to be themselves? Will I allow them to journey off in the world and experience life for what they know of? That’s love, to me.”
Kendrick went on to say “when I look at that, I try to apply it with how I express myself, how I look at my career, and how I meet other individuals. Am I allowing them to be themselves without any judgment? My children have taught me that.”
