Bruce Bochy Shares A Message To Rangers Fans

 

Bruce Bochy is a man of manners.

Universally loved by fellow managers and former players, he is starting to build a good relationship with Texas Rangers fans.

That will be his new team from 2022 on, as he signed a multi-year deal to manage in the lone star state.

“Hi fans, I want to let you know that I’m very excited to be here and getting to know all of you,” was his message to Rangers supporters on Tuesday.

He signed his contract and had his first photos with the Rangers’ jersey taken on Monday.

Bochy will be tasked with helping the Rangers return to relevancy after a few obscure years.

From 2010 to 2016, the franchise lived its best years making the playoffs in five out of seven seasons and even making the World Series twice.

 

Bochy Will Try To Bring Brighter Days To The Rangers

They were actually one strike away from winning the 2011 World Series, but lost to the St. Louis Cardinals.

They haven’t made the postseason since 2016 and have several last place finishes in the AL West since then.

Bochy’s first duty will be trying to get that losing mentality out of his player.

A manager who made four World Series and won three should be capable of doing that.

Getting the 68-94 Rangers on the right track could take some time, but Bochy seems full of energy and optimism.

He hasn’t managed since 2019, but he has been successful in the past and it probably won’t take him long to get up to speed with recent trends.

The organization will need to feed him with useful data, but if they do things right, Texas could be competing in a year or two with Bochy at the helm.
